Match-Up: Atlanta Braves (Hanson) at New York Mets (Dickey)

The Mets and Braves will square off for the first game of this three-game, first half ending series. The Braves currently lead the Mets by three games in the Eastern division. This past week, the Mets dropped two of three at home to the Central leading, Reds while the Braves grabbed two of three against the injury-riddled Phillies.

The Mets will give the ball to the resurgent, RA Dickey. Dickey has been great for the Mets, posting a 6-1 record with a 2.62 ERA. Dickey has been great at Citi Field this season, posting a 3-0 with a 1.83 ERA in three starts.

The Braves will send out emerging ace, Tommy Hanson. Hanson struggled during June, giving up 18 earned runs in 26 innings. Hanson lost a tough 1-0 decision at Citi Field earlier this season.

The Mets (29-14, home) have been one of the best home squads in the game. The Braves (20-25, away) have been pedestrian. I’m going with the surging RA Dickey to pick up the win on Friday night.

The Pick: Mets

July Record: 3-5
