Match-Up: New York Yankees (Vazquez) at Oakland A’s (Sheets)

AP

After taking two of three against the Blue Jays, the Yankees will travel out to Oakland to take on the A’s. The Yankees took two of three against the A’s during their first trip to California. They will look to have another strong showing again.

The Yankees will send Javier Vazquez to the bump to start the series. Vazquez has yet to record a win over his last three starts, but threw extremely well against the A’s in his early season start. Vazquez gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings while picking up the win on April 20th.

Vazquez will be opposed by Ben Sheets. Sheets, 3-7 in 2010, has been exactly what the A’s were expecting. Sheets has given up at least three runs in every start dating back to April 28th. In his career, Sheets is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA against the Yankees.

I’m going with the Yankees to give me my first win. Hopefully, the plane ride won’t expect them and they’ll continue their strong play.

The Pick: Yankees

July Record: 0-4
