A tradition thats been around for 95 years is still standing strong on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. The nation’s most important and historical holiday allows people to eat hot dogs during the day and set off fireworks at night. Today, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut entertained a crowd of over 30,000 fans, winning his 4th consecutive Mustard Belt.

Chestnut ate 54 hot dogs in only 10 minutes on a beautiful Sunday afternoon Independence Day. There was no competition whatsoever for the 26-year old California native. He started out pretty quickly, scarfing down about 20 hot dogs in the first two minutes, but slowed down towards the end, realizing he couldn’t break his own record of 68.

With Takeru Kobayashi watching from the crowd–he was not under contract to enter the contest–the contest just didn’t have the spark during play as usual. The past few years has lived up to the hype. But you know what they always say: there’s always next year.
