The Yankees looked awfully helpless as Mariners’ ace Felix Hernandez threw a two-hit shutout. Javier Vazquez threw six innings of three-run ball, but the Yankees offense just couldn’t get on track against the crafty righty, as they lost 7-0. Welp, that’s what happens when you face two of the AL’s best arms back-to-back.

'This Game Is Too Easy!'

Initial Reaction:

The Yankees just couldn’t get anything going offensively tonight. Hernandez was in total control from start to finish. Mark Teixeira had the only legitimate hit off of Hernandez, a third inning double. The other Yankee hit, Colin Curtis hit a fifth inning ‘double’, was horribly misplayed by second baseman, Chone Figgins.

If the Yankees were dominated by two average Joes, then I’d be concerned. However, Cliff Lee and Hernandez are two of the best arms in the game. Tip your hat to them and get ready to pound Ryan Rowland-Smith tomorrow.

Positives From The Game:

Negatives From The Game:

Chad Gaudin: Gaudin came in relief of Vazquez and couldn’t keep the Yanks in the game. Gaudin gave up four earned runs over the final three frames.

Only One Hit?: Texeira’s double was the only bright spot for the Yanks

Interesting Facts:

Let’s just forget about this game and look to tomorrow.

What’s Next?:

The Yanks will look to salvage the final game of this three-game set tomorrow afternoon. Luckily, the Yanks will send their ace to the mound.
