Another week of fantasy baseball is in the books…Let’s take a look back and see who excelled this past week.

AP

Who’s Hot?

#1 Josh Hamilton, OF, Rangers: Hamilton is making a surge in All-Star voting and has shown fans his appreciation with a big week. Hamilton has crushed three home runs while hitting at a .500 clip. Hamilton is also showing off some speed, stealing two bases.

#2 Jose Reyes, SS, Mets: The Mets have won eight of nine and Reyes can lay claim to much of that success. He has hit three home runs while hitting a .450 clip. While Reyes has only stolen 17 bases, he has a slugging percentage of .417.

#3 Javier Vazquez, SP, Yankees: Many gave up on Vazquez earlier in the season, but fantasy championships are won in the summer/fall months. Vazquez has only given up seven earned runs over his last four starts and has struck out 26 batters in 28 innings.

Who’s Not?

#1 Wandy Rodriguez, SP, Astros: Rodriguez was considered by many to be a Top 15 option heading into this season. However, Rodriguez has really let his owners down. His 3-10 record accompanied with a 6.09 ERA, is among the worst in the game. Rodriguez has only struck out 52 batters in 75 innings, making him virtually droppable in all formats.

#2 Michael Bourn, OF, Astros: Another Astro! Bourn’s 21 stolen bases are among the most in baseball. However, he hasn’t been hitting. Bourn is 2 for his last 25 with only one stolen base. Bourn can’t steal any bases if he doesn’t get on base. His value is solely tied to his ability to get on and take bases. Let’s hope he breaks out of this funk!

#3 Alfonso Soriano, OF, Cubs: While Soriano is having a respectable season (.247, 10 HRs), his didn’t have a good week. He struck out nine times in 20 at-bats while recording only three hits.
