Initial Reaction:

R.A. Dickey‘s knuckler continues to dance, and the Mets continue to win. They’re now 18-5 in their last 23 games, and have won 7 in a row. Jose Reyes led off the game with a single, and Angel Pagan followed that up with a single of his own. Ike Davis singled home Reyes, Francoeur contributed with a sacrifice fly, and Henry Blanco had an RBI single of his own, as the Mets staked Dickey to a 3-0 lead before he ever took the mound. Pounding on teams that you are better than is huge, and the Mets haven’t played down to competition all season. They’re beating the teams they are supposed to win, and winning convincingly.

The Positives:

Jose Reyes: Jose continues to rake. He had another three hits tonight, and was a home run shy of the cycle. He also added an RBI and two runs scored. His average is up to .270, and his play in the field is just as impressive right now. Jose Reyes is back to being Jose Reyes.

Clutch Hitting: A sign of a good team is when they come up big in clutch situations. They were 5-14 tonight with runners in scoring position.

R.A.: Dickey continues his career revival in Queens. He’s now 5-0 since joining the Mets rotation and it’s going to be hard to take him out of the rotation. He went six innings tonight, yielding three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks, while striking out seven. His ERA is 2.82 on the year.

The Negatives:

Once again, not applicable. They’ve won seven straight, six on the road and are 10 games above .500.

Interesting Facts:

-Only Jeff Francoeur did not record a hit tonight. He did have an RBI sac. fly though.

John Maine will make his 2nd rehab start tomorrow night for AAA-Buffalo.
