Initial Reaction:

The Mets did exactly what they needed to against a lowly team like the Orioles. They got ahead in the 1st inning, and never let up. It was a good win for the Mets, as they carried over the momentum from their 5-1 homestand. Winning the first game of a road series is huge, no matter who you’re playing against.

The Positives:

The Animal Goes Yard: Chris Carter hit his 1st career home run tonight in Baltimore. Overall, he was 1-4 on the night. Look for him to continue to get ABs while the Mets are in American League ballparks.

4th Inning: The Animal hit his 1st career home run in the top half of the inning. More importantly, in the bottom half, R.A. Dickey loaded the bases with nobody out. He proceeded to strike out the next two batters on six pitches. With two outs, he got Matt Wieters to pop up to David Wright. Getting out of jams like these are huge.

Robert Allen: R.A. Dickey had his knuckleball working tonight, and set a career high in strikeouts (8). He improved to 4-0 on the seaso, as he allowed only one run, seven hits, and one walk. His ERA is now 2.78 on the season. He’s improved each start, and continues to solidify his spot in the rotation.

David Wright: 3-4 on the night with a double, and 2 RBIs. His average is slowly creeping closer to .300. He’s up to .284 on the season.

The Negatives:

None. Overall good win for the Mets tonight.

Interesting Facts:

17: The Mets streak of 17 scoreless innings was snapped in the bottom of the 7th.

12: Mets’ pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts on the evening.

Happy Birthday Jose Reyes!
