Great win today. The Mets fell behind 5-0 only to chip away twice, and take the lead for good in the bottom of the 8th. It is their 2nd straight sweep at home of a division rival, as they took three from the Phillies last week and won their 8th straight game at Citi Field.

Initial Reaction:

I couldn’t be happier with this Mets team, the way they bounced back from a brutal loss in San Diego on Wednesday to sweep a divisional opponent and turn the morale of the team 180 degrees. Hisanori Takahashi pitched well in his first five innings, but the 6th inning gave him fits. Feliciano threw only three pitches, but picked up the win, improving to 2-2 on the season. Jeff Francoeur stayed hot, K-Rod picked up the save, David Wright had another 3 hit day. The Mets will welcome the Padres to their spacious ball park riding an eight game home win streak.

The Positives:

Frenchy ridin’ high: Jeff Francoeur is hot right now. He has an 11 game hit streak, and hit the game tying 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th. His average is all the way up to .268 on the season as he was 2-4 today with theĀ  crucial three run home run.

Angel Pagan: Angel had been struggling since he was moved to the 2 hole but reached base three times today, going 2-4 with a walk along with his 10th stolen base of the season. He had a two run single to start the comeback and has been the Mets best player with RISP.

David Wright: Another hot hitter, Wright was 3-5 today with a run scored. He’s hitting .279 on the season.

The Negatives:

Top of the 6th: Takahashi was pitching very well thru the first 5 innings. He’d given up only one run and two hits, but the Fish got to him in the top of the 6th. He was able to record only one out before giving way to Jenrry Mejia.

Jose Reyes: Jose was 0-4 today and left four runners on base. His average is .241 and his OBP is below .3o0, not what you want from your leadoff hitter. Hopefully Jose can turn it around while the rest of the lineup is hot.

Interesting Facts:

– The Mets have won 8 straight at home for the 2nd time this season.

Pedro Feliciano threw only 3 pitches, and faced one batter, but got the win.

-The Mets have off tomorrow for the 2nd time in 5 days.
