Twenty six Cleveland hitters went up against Tiger starter, Armando Galarraga. Twenty six of them went back to the dugout and Galarraga was an out away from perfection. Hitter number 27, shortstop Jason Donald hitting a bouncing ball to first baseman, Miguel Cabrera in the hole. Cabrera flipped the ball to Galarraga, who was covering first base. Donald was clearly out by one step, but umpire Jim Joyce called Donald safe.

Needless to say, Joyce robbed Galarraga of immortality. Tiger manager, Jim Leyland gave Joyce an ear full and the Tiger players were all over Joyce.

There have been 20 perfect games. Number 21 was stolen away tonight.
