Quick: Who is the only pitcher in the Major Leagues to throw two one-hitters this season?

Answer: Matt Cain

Cain threw his second one hitter last Friday against the Diamondbacks. In eight innings, Cain struck out nine hitters while walking none.

Who’d he throw his other one-hitter against?

The Colorado Rockies. On May 1st, Cain threw eight innings of one-hit ball as the Giants won, 6-1. Cain has only given up ten earned runs in five starts at home this year. Cain is 9-6 with a 3.09 ERA in his career against the Rox.

The Rockies will counter with southpaw, Jeff Francis. Since coming off the disabled list in May, Francis is 1-1 with a 2.89 ERA. In his last start, he gave up five runs over five innings against the Dodgers. In Francis’ career, he is 7-5 with a 4.74 ERA. Francis apparently not a fan of AT&T park, posting a 3-4 record, carrying a 5.86 ERA.

I’m picking the Giants here. Cain has been awesome and Francis is still trying to find his stride.

The Pick: SF Giants

June Record: 1-0
