Even though I’m 55-39 overall, I’m not happy with my May performance (14-17). I’m ready to bounce back in June.

Match-Up: Colorado Rockies (Hammel) at San Francisco Giants (Zito)

I correctly cited that the Rockies would defeat the Giants yesterday behind the arm of Ubaldo Jimenez. Jimenez was absolutely electric, throwing a complete game four-hitter in a Colorado 4-0 victory. However, I’m going with the home team on Tuesday night.

Barry Zito has been great for the Giants this season. He is 6-2 with a 2.94 ERA in ten starts so far. He has already defeated the Rockies once this season, throwing eight innings of five-hit baseball in a 5-2 Giant victory. Not only did Zito pitch well against the Rockies earlier this season, but he has excelled against them in his career. In twelve career starts, Zito is 5-2 with a 2.00 ERA. Zito has been equally as good at home this year, posting a 4-1 record to go along with a 3.12 ERA.

The Rockies will counter with righty, Jason Hammel. Hammel has been hammered so far this season. He carries a 2-3 record with an inflated 6.94 ERA. Hammel has pitched better recently, winning two of his last three home starts. However, he has been awful on the road. Hammel is 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA on road games. In four career starts against SF, Hammel is 0-2 with a 3.52 ERA.

I’m going with the Giants at home. As long as Barry pitches like it’s 2010, not 2008, the Giants will be in good shape.
