The Philadelphia Flyers have had a historic run this post-season. Before the post-season even began, the Flyers had to defeat the New York Rangers at home on the final day of the regular season to clinch a playoff berth. After disposing of the Rangers in a closely contested shootout, the Flyers easily eliminated the New Jersey Devils before rallying from a 3-0 series deficit to take four straight games from the Boston Bruins. The Flyers need one more win today over the Montreal Canadiens to advance to the Stanley Cup.

The Flyers hold an all-important 3-1 series lead over the Canadiens. Flyer goalie, Michael Leighton pitched a shutout in Game 4. He also shut out the Canadiens in Games 1 and 2 in Philadelphia. However, he did allow five goals to Montreal in Game 3, but five goals allowed in four games is excellent, given the hot play of the Canadiens this post-season.

In Game 4, the Flyers dominated the Canadiens in every facet of the game. They won the face-off battle, 38-18. They out-shot the Habs, 25-17.

The Flyers are 6-1 at home during the post-season, with their only loss coming to Boston.

Leighton has been great for the Flyers and they have been awesome at home. However, Montreal is 5-0 when facing elimination this season. Expect an unusually loud crowd at the Wachovia Center as the Flyers look to return to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1987.

The Pick: Philadelphia Flyers

May Record: 9-14
