The Rays and Yankees will square off in the final game of this two-game set.

The Yankees have played well against the Rays in New York. The Yankees went 6-3 against them in the Bronx last season and posted an 11-7 overall record against them. The Yankees took two of three earlier this season at Tropicana Field.

Both starters have had great starts to their 2010 campaigns. Andy Pettitte is a perfect 5-0 with a 1.79 ERA while James Shields is 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA. Both were great in their last starts. Even though Shields received a no-decision, he went eight inning against the Mariners and struck out ten. Pettitte was solid against the Twins, striking out two over 6 1/3 innings of scoreless ball.

Andy Pettitte has pitched extremely well against the Rays in his career. He has a 16-5 record with a 3.81 ERA in 25 starts. James Shields, has not fared well against the Bronx Bombers. Shields has a 1-7 career record with a 5.76 ERA. At Yankee Stadium, Shields is 1-3 with a 6.35 ERA.

I’m going with the Yankees at home. The Rays have been great on the road this year, but Shields has really struggled against the Bombers.

The Pick: New York Yankees

May Record: 7-12
