Match-Up: Los Angeles Angels (Kazmir) at Texas Rangers (Holland)

I refuse to display a picture of the Rally Monkey for this match-up so I’m leaving it blank.

These two teams are both riding streaks. However, the Texas Rangers are streaking in the wrong direction. The Rangers head home after getting swept in Toronto by the Blue Jays. It was an embarrassing weekend for the Rangers, who were out-slugged on Friday Night, 16-10 and then shut out by Ricky Romero on Saturday.

However, The Rangers will now head home, where they are 13-7 this season. Second year lefty, Derek Holland will take the mound for the Rangers in this game. The lefty won his first start this season, going six innings while striking out seven in a 10-1 victory over the A’s. However, in his career, Holland is 2-2 with a 5.26 ERA against the Halos.

The Angels head into Texas riding a three-game winning streak. The Angels swept the A’s this past weekend, relying on dominant pitching from Joel Piniero and Joe Saunders. Lefty, Scott Kazmir will take the mound for the Halos on Monday night and look to continue that dominance. However, Kazmir has struggled this season, posting a 2-3 record with a 6.82 ERA. In his career, he has pitched extremely well against the Rangers, going 6-1 with a 2.05 ERA in 10 career starts. Kazmir has a lifetime 3-1 record in Arlington.

Even though Kazmir is struggling, I’m picking the Angels in this match-up. They are playing better baseball right now and Kazmir has had a lot of success in the past.

The Pick: LA Angels

May Record: 7-9
