Match-Up: New York Yankees (Burnett) at Boston Red Sox (Lester)

Both Burnett and Lester have posted similar career lines when facing the opposition. Burnett is 5-2 with 4.30 ERA while Lester is 3-1 with a 4.19 ERA. In his career, AJ Burnett has a 3-2 record in seven starts. Burnett’s ERA at Fenway is 5.36, but is largely inflated due to last April’s five inning, eight earned run debacle. If we remove that start, Burnett’s ERA falls to 4.11. Lester is 24-6 with a 3.26 ERA at Fenway Park.

Burnett has pretty much redefined the way he has pitched this season. He is 4-0 with a 1.99 ERA. His strike out totals are a bit down, but he has been pitching to contact. With the Yankees looking to take the series, expect him to be on top of his game.

The Yankees are clearly a better team right now. Both teams have a plethora of injuries, but the Yankees lineup is superior. Take the Yankees.

The Pick: New York Yankees

May Record: 5-3
