The New York Yankee minor league teams struggled this week. Only one team had a record above .500 from April 27-May 2..

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees: The Triplr-A affiliate went 5-1 this week including a four-game sweep of Louisville.  Jason Hirsh recorded his first two wins of the season. Jonathan Albaladejo shut the door twice for his sixth and seventh save of the season and Mark Melancon picked up a win and save before being promoted to the big club. Juan Miranda led the offensive charge for the Yankees homering twice during the week. The 14-9 Yankees will be on the road this week finishing up a series against Norfolk followed  by a trip to Durham.

  • Montero Monitor: Jesus Montero continued to struggle this week going 4-20 with four strikeouts and a walk. The Yankees top prospect is only hitting .228 on the season with two homeruns, nine RBI, 16 strikeouts to eight walks and an OBP of .299.
  • McAllister Monitor: Zach McAllister pitched once this week and picked up a no decision. McAllister went six innings givin up one earned run on six hits, striking out six and walking two. The only earned run came on a solo homerun. McAllister is 0-1 in 2010 with a 3.86 ERA and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 21-8.

Trenton Thunder: The Thunder won just one game this week going 1-5 against New Hampshire. Trenton’s struggles didn’t stop Austin Romine from having a big week. The Trenton catcher went 8-15 with one homerun, six RBI, two walks and one strikeout. The Thunder are 10-13 on the season and will head to Akron this week before going to face Bowie.

  • Romine Radar: Austin Romine is hitting .348 on the young season with one homerun, 13 RBI, nine doubles, 13 strikeouts, eight walks and a OBP of .423.

Tampa Yankees: Tampa also struggled this week losing two of three to both Dunedin and Brevard County. Hector Noesi continued to pitch well picking up his fourth win of the season. The right hander pitched six innings allowing an unearned run on only two hits and striking out 13. Tampa sits at .500 on the 2010 season. They open up the week at Dunedin before traveling to Brevard County.
