CC Sabathia went 7 2/3 innings tonight allowing three runs. Sabathia gave up 11 hits, so he wasn’t dominant, but the Yankee offense provided enough support.

Match-Up: Dallas Mavericks (2-3) at San Antonio Spurs (3-2)
The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon, as they succeed in sweeping two consecutive series, while going 9-1 on their homestand. John Maine pitched well through six innings, while the bullpen, which seems untouchable, closed out the game in typical fashion. David Wright and Ike Davis both had two hits, each producing a run, and Angel Pagan drove in two on a triple. After today’s win, the Mets now have a seven game winning streak.

Major League Baseball opened All-Star voting for the 2010 season early last week. It may seem a little premature, but it is a yearly tradition. Outside of the infamous 2002 tie, the American League has won the All-Star game every year since 1997. The game will be played on July 13th at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
I wouldn’t want some of the current league leaders (listed below) anywhere near the AL All-Star team come July. Here are some of your league leaders thus far:
In light of Ryan Howard’s contract extension on Monday afternoon, I decided that we need to visit another hot button contract debate, Cardinals first baseman, Albert Pujols. Pujols is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2012 season. Is it possible to think that Pujols will shatter Alex Rodriguez’s contract record (10 years/$270 million)? In relation to Alex, what is Albert worth?

The New York Mets beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5 in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Oliver Perez was atrocious tonight, walking four batters without making it past the 4th inning. Hisanori Takahashi picked him up, throwing 3.1 strong innings in relief, allowing the Mets offense to score some more runs in the process. David Wright had three hits and drove in four runs, making him the major contributor of the offense. Ike Davis knocked in three runs as well. Mets have now won six straight games and will attempt the sweep of the Dodgers tomorrow afternoon.

The New York Yankees almost had a fantastic comeback tonight, but came up just short against the Baltimore Orioles, 5-4. The loss drops the Yankees to 12-7 on the season.

The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0, winning Game One of Tuesday night’s doubleheader. Johan Santana had another strong outing, while pitching in and out of trouble in many of the innings, picking up his third win of the season. The Mets bats were clutch today, giving Santana a comfortable lead early on, leading to the Mets fifth straight win.
