The Mets continue to roll as they romped the Phillies tonight at Citizens Bank Park, 9-1.

Initial Reaction: Jonathon Niese matched up against Kyle Kendrick and pitched 7 strong innings as the Mets were able to defeat the Phillies tonight, 9-1. The bats came alive, and Niese kept the Phillies’ lineup quiet. It’s the 8th straight victory for the surging Mets.

The Positives:

Jeff Francoeur: Francoeur had an overall outstanding game tonight. He was 1-2 with a HBP, and RBI. His lone hit was a home run, his 4th of the season. He made a fantastic catch against the wall robbing a double, and saving at least one run.

Rod Barajas: He was was 3-4 tonight, with a double and 2 Home Run’s. He had 10 total bases tonight, along with 3 RBIs. Since leaving the Phillies, he’s recorded at least one RBI in every game against them.

Angel Pagan: Pagan was 3-5 tonight, with a single, double, and triple. He also added 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. He has a firm grip on the Center Field position with Beltran out.

Jonathon Niese: Niese was extremely impressive tonight, pitching 7 innings, giving up only one walk, four hits, and one earned run. He picked up his first win of the season in an important game for the Mets tonight.

The Negatives:

Jose Reyes: He was 1-5 tonight with an RBI single. While the rest of the lineup is clicking on all cylinders with Jose Reyes hitting in the 3 hole, he is still struggling. Hopefully he can climb out of the slump soon while the rest of the lineup is picking him up.

Interesting Facts:

1- The Number of Outs Brad Lidge recorded tonight in his first game back for the Phillies. If he does not return to form for Philadelphia, the bullpen could be a major issue for them.
