We all know how different the 2007 New York Yankees are from this year’s team, so I thought it would be interesting to take a look at what the 2013 squad could look like….
The team I came up with is based on only the players the Yankees have on their roster or in their farm system. I also factored in the players like Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettitte, who will likely retire, and players like Derek Jeter, who will re-up their current contracts. I would have added Javier Vazquez to the list of players the Yankees will resign, but I can’t see the Bombers giving him any sort of long term deal.
Now, this again is a team based only on players the Yankees have on their roster as of today. I do believe the Yankees will be huge players in the Carl Crawford and Cliff Lee sweepstakes and will also scour the trade market, but, as the team stands today, here is who I believe will headline the 2013 Yankees:
