Match-Up: Dallas Mavericks (2-3) at San Antonio Spurs (3-2)

Even though this is Game 6, this game is essentially for the series. This is a huge advantage for the home team. The Mavericks completely embarrassed the Spurs in Dallas Tuesday night though, 103-81. Dallas forward Caron Butler went off for 35 points in the win. However, the most telling statistic from this game is that Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not play any of his players for more than 29 minutes. Tim Duncan and Richard Jefferson (24 minutes), Tony Parker (18 minutes), and Manu Ginobili (17 minutes) each played below their season average minutes.

However in Game 4 in San Antonio, each of these players played at least 27 minutes. Duncan, Ginobili, and Jefferson played 34+ minutes each. The Spurs are an older team and probably figured they would have a better chance of taking the series at home. I’m not saying that they forfeited Game 5, rather they are playing strategically.

The Mavericks are 1-3 this season in San Antonio. Earlier this week, I predicted that this series will go seven games. I’m taking that back. The Spurs will take Game 6 and send the Mavericks home. They have the experience and coaching who can get it done. Tim Duncan isn’t bad, either.

The Pick: San Antonio Spurs

April Record: 17-11
