Match-Up: San Antonio Spurs(3-1) at Dallas Mavericks(1-3)

The 7th seeded Spurs look to take the opening round series against the 2nd seeded, Dallas Mavericks. Game Four in San Antonio got extremely chippy as Maverick guard Eduardo Najera was thrown out of the game for a flagrant foul on Spurs guard, Manu Ginobili. Spurs forward DeJuan Blair answered back minutes later with a flagrant foul on Maverick guard, Jason Kidd. Expect Game Five to be even more physical.

The Mavericks must be disappointed with the Game Four result. Dallas held the Spurs’ Big Three(Duncan, Parker, Ginobili) to only 31 points. They were not able to contain guard, George Hill. Hill picked up the slack by scoring 29 points on 11 of 16 shooting. The Mavericks even out-rebounded the Spurs, 48-43. Dirk Nowitzki did not have a great game. He only scored 17 points, his lowest total this series.

Game Five will be in Dallas. Nowitzki and Co. have excelled against the Spurs at home. The Spurs are 1-3 in Dallas this season and I expect an energetic Dallas crowd to propel the Mavericks to a Game Five victory. I think this series will go seven games. It’s just a hunch.

The Pick: Dallas Mavericks

April Record: 16-10
