This is the rubber match of the a three game set. The Dodgers will trot out left-handed phenom, Clayton Kershaw (1-0, 4.50). Kershaw has all the build and hype to be the Dodgers ace for the future. Kershaw has struck out eleven hitters in eleven innings this season, but has also issued eleven walks. His high pitch counts have limited his inning totals, so he will have to keep walk-rate in check.

Kershaw has 53 career starts, but has only factored into 27 decisions. Kershaw is basically the Joba Chamberlain (43 starts, 19 decisions) of the National League.

Even in his short career, Kershaw has posted his most impressive numbers against the Giants. In two games against the Giants, Kershaw has struck out 13 hitters over eight innings. He has only allowed three hits and one run.

San Francisco starter, Barry Zito is having a strong start this season. Zito has looked great so far (2-0, 2.25). The 31-year-old isn’t going to overpower hitters (six strikeouts in twelve innings), but he has been deceptively crafty with his patent left hook.

Throughout his career, Zito hasn’t been great against the Dodgers. He has a 6-5 record in 13 career starts, posting a 4.46 ERA. Zito was 1-1 against the Dodgers last season, posting a 5.16 ERA. Zito was tagged for six earned runs in five innings in his only start at Dodger Stadium last year.

San Francisco will be without outfielder Aaron Rowand who was hit in the head by a pitch on Friday night.

Dodger outfielder, Matt Kemp has gotten off to a hot start this season, crushing five home runs and driving in fifteen runs.

I’m going with the Dodgers at home. The Dodgers had the third best home record in the National League last season and Kershaw will give them at least five good innings. Zito dominated the Astros and Pirates in his first two starts. These two teams are arguably the two worst in the NL right now. We’ll see if Zito is for real after his next few starts. However, I’m going with the Dodgers today.

The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers
