OK, so this picture is a little, goofy? It reminds me more of a Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger than one of last year’s post-season heroes.

Whether you love him or hate him, Alex Rodriguez was probably the happiest person in Yankee Stadium yesterday. He finally received his most sought after baseball prize, a World Series ring. He already has three MVP awards, a closet full of Silver Sluggers, and a dozen All-Star appearances.

Rodriguez had a great post-season that featured a number of exciting moments. His home run off Twins’ closer, Joe Nathan in Game 3 of the ALDS. His home run off Angels closer, Brian Fuentes in Game 2 of the ALCS. In my opinion, he has silenced his post-season critics. He hit .366 with six home runs and 18 RBIs in the 2009 playoffs. Some may disagree with me and argue that 2009 may be just an illusion and he’ll come back down to Earth this post-season. That remains to be seen, but Rodriguez was a key cog in helping push New York over the World Series hump after a nine-year dry spell.

Whether you love A-Rod or hate him, you have to respect him. The guy has been one of the best players in the game for 12+ seasons. Let’s just hope he doesn’t resemble a Power Ranger ever again.

I found some interesting reads on-line about World Series rings. It’s definitely worth a look. Check out these links:
