This pitching match-up is a re-match from last Thursday’s Athletics 6-2 win.

Pre-season, I was high on the A’s second-year starter, Brett Anderson. Anderson has the make-up to be one of the best lefties in the American League. I won’t bore you by going through his second half stats from 2009, so definitely check out the link above.

In his first start this season, Anderson went six innings, striking out four hitters in a 6-2 win against these same Mariners. Typically, hitters gain the advantage the second time they see a pitcher, but Anderson was so dominant in that victory that I’m not worried about it. Anderson features an impressive 96 MPH fastball with an almost un-hittable hook. I expect him to baffle the Seattle hitters once again.

Mariners’ starter, Doug Fister only lasted four innings last Thursday. He gave up two runs and six hits.

The A’s defeated the Mariners yesterday, 4-0 behind the impressive pitching of Justin Duchscherer. The A’s have defeated the Mariners in four of their first five meetings. Make it five of six on Tuesday.

The Pick: Oakland A’s
