Match-Up: Philadelphia Flyers(40-34-6; 86 points) at New York Rangers(37-33-10; 84 points)

This is a Michael Ulatoski Special.

It’s crunch time for both of these hockey teams. The Rangers can secure a playoff berth with two wins in their final two games against the Flyers. Currently the Rangers sit in 9th place, one point out of the final playoff spot. If the Rangers can knock off the Flyers in the Garden, the suspense will build up this weekend.

Current Standings:

7. Philadelphia Flyers– 86 points
8. Boston Bruins–85 points
9. New York Rangers–84 points

If the Rangers lose on Friday, their playoff fate is all, but sealed. However, they’ve been playing good hockey recently. The Rangers have gone 6-1-1 in their last eight contests.

The Flyers have won two straight contests without leading scorer, Jeff Carter. Carter is still recovering from a foot injury and is questionable for Friday’s tilt in NYC.

The teams have split the season series, 2-2 thus far. The Rangers won the last contest, 3-1 on March 14th.

Goal tender, Henrik Lundqvist is the most important piece of the puzzle. He had an impressive showing on Wednesday against the Maple Leafs, saving 26 of 27 shots. He must play well for the Rangers to have a chance.

I’m going with home team. The Rangers take this one, 3-2

The Pick: New York Rangers
