CC Sabathia had a rough final start of the Spring today as the Yanks lost to the Braves, 9-6.In 4 2/3 innings, Sabathia gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out three. Braves catcher Clint Sammons hit a two-run home run off Sabathia in the 4th inning. The Braves hit four doubles off of Sabathia. Let’s hope that Sabathia got the rough start out of the way before Sunday’s Opener in Boston.

Game Notes:

Nick Swisher and Jorge Posada both homered in the loss. Posada homered off of pyromaniac, Scott Proctor.

Side Notes:

Mark Teixeira was ‘sore’ today. He should play again this week.

Alfredo Aceves has an apparent back injury. Manager Joe Girardi expects him to pitch again this week, but back injuries are tricky. Aceves is on a day-to-day watch. He may be placed on the DL, opening the door for Lefty, Boone Logan. Given the prominence of Red Sox and Ray left-handed bats, I hope we see Logan much later on this season.

Game 2 of the Split Squad Doubleheader will begin tonight at 7:05. The Yankees will take on the Blue Jays.
