The Yankees bounced back in Game 2 of the Split Squad Doubleheader, defeating the Blue Jays 5-3.Sergio Mitre started the game for the Bombers and threw 6 excellent innings. Mitre yielded two runs on three hits and struck out five. This concludes Mitre’s excellent Spring Training(22 innings, 8 runs, 4 walks, 20 strikeouts). Given Aceves’s injury, he will fit in nicely as the Yankees long-man. The bullpen(Marte, Rivera, Logan) only allowed one run on one hit over the final three innings.

Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez each collected two hits in the win. Marcus Thames doubled as well.

Side Notes:

I forgot to mention this earlier, but Yankee minor league pitcher, Pat Venditte, made his debut today. Venditte can pitch with both arms and actually alternated within the inning to match up with the hitter. Check out this article. One of a kind player.
