Robinson Cano’s 3-run home run in the first inning set the tone for the game as the Yankees out-slugged the Orioles, 11-7. Javier Vazquez got the start for the Bombers. Vazquez was a little erratic over 5 1/3 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3. The Bomber Offense carried the team in this game. In addition to Cano, outfielder Marcus Thames, 1st baseman David Winfree, and catcher P.J. Pilittere homered in the victory. Yankee fans should start to feel better with Thames’s recent production(Two HRs in his last two), given his slow start this Spring.

In addition to Vazquez, bullpen staples Joba Chamberlain, Chan Ho Park, and David Robertson combined for four strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.

Additional Notes:

Mark Teixeira left the game with an apparent elbow contusion. Nothing is broken, so that’s a huge relief. Keep your fingers crossed and hope the contusion quickly dissolves.
