The Yankees were knocking around the Tigers for four innings today(Ahead, 8-0) before the rain came. The Yankees played their ‘A Lineup’ and every hitter(outside of Posada) either got on-base or was responsible for a RBI. Both Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano had a 2-RBI hits in the 1st inning off Tigers starter, Jon Kibler. In the 4th inning, Nick Johnson doubled off Max Scherzer. It actually got a little boring watching the Yankees take advantage of the Tigers’ sub-par pitching.

Pitching-wise, nothing noteworthy happened. Andy Pettitte was supposed to start the game, but Yankees pushed him back to the 4th inning due to the rain. Pettitte actually relieved Mariano Rivera. How often do you see that? Damaso Marte, Boone Logan, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte combined for a hit and four strikeouts over four innings. I guess we can count the abbreviated game as a weekend sweep of the Yanks over the Tigers.

One week until Opening Night…
