Match-Up: Dayton Flyers(22-12) at Illinois Fighting Illini(21-14)

The Dayton Flyers and Illinois Fighting Illini are playing for the rights to advance to New York for a chance to play for the NIT Championship. Illinois has easily handled their first two opponents(Kent State, Stony Brook), but Dayton will provide the Illini with their biggest test in recent memory. Dayton ended Cincinnati’s season on Monday Night, 81-66. Senior guard, Marcus Johnson led the way for the Flyers, scoring 16 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. As a team, Dayton shot 35% from 3-point range during the game, in line with their season average. Dayton has had trouble with an opposing team’s inside preference. Illinois features Junior center, Mike Tisdale, who has averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds on the season. If Dayton falters from 3-point range, they are in big trouble. Tisdale should be able to have his way inside with the Flyers. Illini guards DJ Richardson and Demetri McCarney should be able to limit Chris and Marcus Johnson. Illinois opened as a 3.5 favorite. Roll with the Fighting Illini as they head to New York.
