The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-4 yesterday. Here are some quick highlights of the game.

1. Pitcher Javier Vazquez started the game for the Yankees. Vazquez threw three solid innings, striking out three and only yielding one run(HR to Carlos Pena).

2. Pitchers Chan Ho Park and David Robertson each threw scoreless frames.

3. Derek Jeter went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

4. Minor league outfield prospect, Colin Curtis hit a 3-run home run in the 6th inning to stake the Yankees to the lead. Fans will recall Curtis’ walk-off home run in the team’s first Spring Training game. He is an interesting prospect to monitor that could be called up in the future.

Housekeeping Notes:

-Single game tickets go on-sale today. There are some good deals out there, so get on those tickets quickly.

-The Yankee brass will meet on Sunday to discuss their 5th starter. If we were solely basing this decision off stats during Spring Training, Sergio Mitre would be the 5th starter. However, everyone knows that this is a two, maybe three horse race between Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, and maybe Chad Gaudin. I expect Hughes to start the season as the 5th starter. Mitre does have some trade value right now and the Yankees will need to option one of their 14 big-league arms. This all remains to be seen….
