Notre Dame lost a close one yesterday, 51-50 to Old Dominion. Tough way for the ND Seniors to close out their collegiate careers.
Today, we look to another NCAA Tournament game to get a win.
The Matchup: 12:25 PM #11 Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. #6 Xavier Musketeers
Coming into the NCAA Tournament, Xavier(24-8) has won 12 of 14 games. In their last game, they were up-ended by the Richmond Spiders in the semi-finals of the A-10 Tournament. Xavier is led by guard Jordan Crawford(19.7 PPG) who is notorious for his dunk over LeBron James during a summer basketball camp. New coach Chris Mack has kept Xavier focused through the season.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers(21-13) went on an impressive run during the Big Ten tournament. They beat Penn St., Michigan State, and Purdue in consecutive days. However, they were embarrassed by Ohio State in the Big 10 title game, 90-61. Minnesota has a great coach in Tubby Smith. Smith has won an NCAA Championship before and is a battled-tested coach.
Ultimately, we really do not know what to expect from this Minnesota team. Will the team that beat Purdue by 27 show up? Or the one that lost the very next day by 29 to Ohio State? Xavier comes into this game as a 1 point favorite. Give me the sure thing in Xavier and let’s move on.
The Pick: Xavier Musketeers(24-8)
March Record: 13-5
