Yahoo! Sports first broke a story reporting that the Knicks, Wizards, and Rockets are engaged in three-team blockbuster trade discussions that would bring Tracy McGrady to the Knicks. McGrady, the highest paid player in league (22.8M), is in the final year of his contract. The Rockets would receive Knicks Center, Eddy Curry, Washington Wizards Small Forward Caron Butler, and Wizards Center, Brendan Hayward. The Wizards would acquire Knicks Power Forward, Al Harrington..

This move would give the Knicks further cap room for their Summer 2010 Free Agent spending spree and give younger players more opportunities this season. The Knicks are trading away two, high salaried players for the injured McGrady.

McGrady, 31, has only played in six games this season. McGrady last appeared on December 23rd against the Orlando Magic. McGrady has been exiled from the team, making his expiring contract extremely attractive for many teams. For the Knicks, if finalized, this is a great move. They will clear some players from the roster and give younger players, like Jordan Hill, more playing time. This move would finally signify that the Knicks are sacrificing this season for the offseason.

Proposed Deal:

Knicks Get: SG Tracy McGrady

Wizards Get: PF Al Harrington

Rockets Get: SF Caron Butler, C Brendan Hayward, C Eddy Curry
