After requesting he be traded, Rangers enforcer Donald Brashear has been put on waivers according to hockey insider Bob Mckenzie at TSN, who broke the news via Twitter just over half an hour ago.  Brashear requested the trade because he feels that the Rangers no longer believe in him, and realizes why he is being sidelined for so long.  Brashear says he spoke to coach John Tortorella over the summer.  Torts told him he would use the veteran in many situations, and that has not been the case so far in his tenure with New York.

Brashear is 38 years old and has recorded just one assist in 36 games this season. GM Glen Sather signed Brashear to a 2-year/2.8 million dollar contract this past summer…
